Una de las tareas más importantes para nosotros en la FSF es ayudar a fomentar la comprensión de que el software libre es crucial para una sociedad libre, y que los ciudadanos deben cambiar a software libre ya sea en sus hogares como en sus propios de trabajos, todo ello por la causa de la libertad. En muchos sentidos, la mayor parte de este trabajo ha sido siempre la labor de los millones de usuarios de software libre en todo el mundo, la de decirle a los demás por qué la atención sobre el software libre y por qué es importante su utilización.
Así que, ¿por qué no hacer que parte de toda esa energía, de la especificidad, y de la persuasión nuestro mensaje sobre la FSF.org llegue al mundo? ¿Y qué mejor manera de hacerlo que con los videos de los partidarios del software libre, publicados mediante el formato del software gratuito asi como un apasionante nuevo estándar libre para el vídeo en línea?
De 2 a 5 minutos, utilizando una cámara de vídeo, una cámara digital o cámara web, puede crear un vídeo acerca de por qué usted es un apasionado amigo del software libre. ¡Envíe su video e invite a sus amigos a hacer lo mismo!

Las mujeres que participaran en la mini cumbre del Software Libre y en la celebración en Boston del «Software Freedom Day 2009», se vieron invitadas por la voluntaria de la FSF, Dana Moser, que iba recorriendo los distintos stands haciendo a los participantes las siguientes preguntas, y haciendo videos de sus respuestas:
- "¿Qué hacer con el software libre?"
- "¿Por qué le gusta el software libre?"
- "¿Por qué es importante para Usted, la libertad del software?"

But in many ways, most of this work has always been done by the millions of free software users around the world, telling others why they care about free software and what they use it for.
So, why not make all that energy, specificity, and persuasion part of our message to the world on FSF.org? And what better way to do it than with videos from free software supporters, published using free formats and an exciting new free standard for online video?
In 2-5 minutes, using a camcorder, digital camera, or webcam, you can create a video about why you or a friend love free software. Then submit your video and invite friends to do the same!
