## LibrePlanet 2010: La conferencia de la comunidad de software gratuito desde el 19 al 21 de marzo
LibrePlanet 2010 presentará talleres sobre los instrumentos libres más extensamente utilizados para trabajar en y con la web, vídeos, gráficos y software de desarrollo.
Se enterara sobre los últimos desarrollos llevados a cabo en el Proyecto GNU, asi como servicios libres de red, radio digital, voice-over-IP, codificación, patentes de software, formatos de medios, y ver el estreno de una nueva película sobre las patentes de software.
Ademas de ello, en el LibrePlanet de este año, se hablara sobre como puede Usted investirse éxitosamente con las comunidades de software libre, como Consejero de proyectos de software gratuito, y como el «non-coders» puede alcanzar un rol importante en los proyectos de software gratuito.
Esta conferencia de tres días se llevara a cabo en Cambridge, Massachusetts, en el Centro de Ciencias de la universidad de Harvard, a partir del 19 de marzo hasta el 21 de marzo, 2010.

## Unase a la celebracion del Día de la Libertad de Documento (Document Freedom Day), que se celebrara el 31 de marzo de 2010
El 31 de marzo del 2010 se llevara a cabo ese evento anual por el cual se promoveran los formatos OpenDocument.
La FSF los invita a participar a esos eventos que se llevaran a cabo localmente, por los cuales se persigue estimular el uso de formatos y adopción de estándares libre.

## El Día Contra DRM: A celebrarse el martes, 4 de mayo de 2010
Como parte de la campaña «Defective by Design anti-DRM», la Free Software Foundation, ayudará en la coordinacion de activistas anti-DRM en todas partes del mundo, para que el 4 de mayo de 2010, puedan movilizar al público contra los DRM.

## Apertura de la carta a Google: VP8 libre, Y apliquelo en YouTube
Recientemente, la FSF ha publicado una carta abierta a Google, pidiendoles la liberacion de su recién adquirido códec de vídeo asi como solicitandoles impulse su utilizacion a traves de YouTube para asi ir sustituyendo a los estándares patentados ya existentes.
Si a usted le interesa tanto el software gratuito y una web libre (que de hecho ha sido este movimiento el medio al cual usted debe su éxito), usted debe tomar la valiente decision de sustituir Flash por estandares y formatos libres. Los vídeos con codecs patentados ya han hecho un daño incalculable a la web y sus usuarios, y todo esto seguirá hasta que los paremos.

## ¿Por qué no Firmaré el Manifiesto Public Domain?
Richard Stallman escribió sobre sus objeciones en el «Manifiesto «Public Domain»» y el por qué de su rechazo a firmarlo.El Manifiesto Public Domain busca de defender nuestra libertad dentro del jardín amurallado de la esfera pública, pero fuera de esas murallas, deja en abandono esas libertades. ¡Esto no es suficiente!.

## Comentario de la FSF para la revisión especial numero 301 del USTR 2010

Los juegos de vídeo de Ubisoft requieren una conexión constante a Internet, sólamente para asegurarse que usted usa una versión que ellos aprueban.

### La Década DRM

## GNU spotlight con Karl Berry
He aqui las ultimas releases de software GNU:
Me gustaría destacar dos cosas este mes.
En primer lugar, la primera nueva liberación de patchs realizada en muchos años. Un especial agradecimiento al nuevo co-maintainer, Jim Meyering, por haberlo reactivado (amen de su otro trabajo principal).
En segundo lugar, el nuevo paquete GNU/xorriso, un moderno (y compatible) equivalente a mkisofs. Otro especial agradecimiento al maintainer, Thomas Schmitt, y sus colegas que hicieron todo el trabajo que hizo posible incluir este paquete en GNU.

También damos la bienvenida a Aleksander Morgado y Reinhard Mueller como los nuevos co-maintainers de GNU PDF, Albert Chu como co-maintainer de freeipmi, Vladimir Serbinenko como co-maintainer de GRUB, Thien-Thi Nguyen como co-maintainer de RCS, y a Giuseppe Scrivano anterior maintainer de gcal.

## LibrePlanet 2010 free software community conference: March 19-21
LibrePlanet 2010 will feature workshops on the most widely used free software tools for working with the web, video, graphics and software development. You can learn about the latest developments in the GNU Project, free network services, digital radio, voice-over-IP, encryption, software licensing, media formats, and view the premiere of a new film on software patents. Plus at this year's LibrePlanet we'll be discussing how you can successfully engage with free software communities, mentor free software projects, and how non-coders can take up important roles in free software projects.
The three-day conference will be held in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at the Harvard University Science Center, from March 19th to March 21st, 2010.

## Open letter to Google: free VP8, and use it on YouTube
The FSF has published an open letter to Google asking them to release their newly-bought video codec as a free one and push its use via YouTube to replace existing proprietary standards.
If you care about free software and the free web (a movement and medium to which you owe your success) you must take bold action to replace Flash with free standards and free formats. Patented video codecs have already done untold harm to the web and its users, and this will continue until we stop it.

## Why I Will Not Sign the Public Domain Manifesto
Richard Stallman wrote about his objections on the Public Domain Manifesto and why he refused to sign it.
The Public Domain Manifesto tries to defend our freedom within the walled garden of the public domain, but abandons that freedom outside it. This is not enough.

## GNU Spotlight with Karl Berry
Here are the recent GNU software releases:I'd like to specially note two things this month. First, the first new release of patch in many years. Thanks to the new co-maintainer, Jim Meyering, for reviving it (among all his other core work). Second, the new GNU package xorriso, a modern (and compatible) equivalent to mkisofs. Thanks to the maintainer, Thomas Schmitt, and his colleagues for doing all the work to make it possible to include this in GNU.
